Introduction

The Laboratory of Viticulture of Agricultural University of Athens and the Italian Academy of Vine and Wine (Accademia Italiana della Vite e del Vino) would like to invite you to the 4th International symposium of the Mediterranean Malvasias, which is going to be held in Aghios Nikolaos of the Fortress Town – Monemvasia, Greece, in  24 –  28 June 2013.

An international working group, with the approval of the OIV, took the initiative to give the right value to the Mediterranean Malvasia through a series of international symposia in order to underline their historical significance and vitivinicultural originality. This is to present Malvasia, as it deserves, to the consumers and to increase its market.

Thus, three international symposia in Porec, in the Lipari Islands and in the Canary Islands have already been organized. It was then decided to close the cycle of the Malvasia congresses with an international symposium to be held in Monemvasia in the summer of 2013.

The symposium is organized to cover within four topics within four sessions:  history, viticulture, enology and economy and marketing.

The organizers of 4th International symposium of the Mediterranean Malvasias invite the scientists, researchers, scholars of the vitiviniculture sector, grapevine growers, winemakers, professionals from all related fields and every friend of the vine and wine to present and share the results of the research, production experiences, knowledge, opinions and enjoy an inspiring and full of challenges symposium, in the early summer of 2013, in Monemvasia.
